Abstract:

This project will investigate the processes that drive plant community assembly following swidden agriculture in a South Asian dry forest. Using a chronosequence approach, plant species composition, structure, and functional traits will be evaluated to understand which processes and factors influence community assembly during secondary succession. This understanding is key to identifying suitable strategies to manage and restore secondary forests and to predict forest change in a changing climate.
