This research focuses on Forest fragments within heavily dominated agricultural landscapes and how these affect tree diversity, composition, and carbon stocks. Large-scale production of economic tree crops has led to the conversion of forest areas into agricultural land, creating fragments. Researchers have questioned the conservation importance of such forest fragments in most tropical landscapes, arguing that their floras are severely altered and no longer represent remnants of the original ecosystem. However, given that most of the remaining fragments are small, it is crucial to assess to what extent they can potentially help preserve the structure and composition typical of the original forests. I aim to address the following research questions.
1. How does tree diversity, composition, and carbon stocks within forest fragments differ from the intact forest?
2. Do different degrees of anthropogenic disturbance that can impact forest fragments affect their tree diversity?
