Abstract:
This study examines the regeneration dynamics of pine-oak forests on abandoned agricultural land in Nepal’s mid-hills. As agricultural abandonment increases due to outmigration, former farmland is transitioning into secondary forests, yet patterns of forest recovery remain poorly understood. This research integrates remote sensing and field-based surveys to analyze changes in forest structure, species composition, and aboveground biomass accumulation across different successional stages. This study will contribute to developing better management recommendations and advancing the understanding of secondary forest dynamics.
