Project Title:
Indigenous governance and jaguar conservation in Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
Abstract:
This study investigates how Indigenous governance structures among the Arhuaco and Kogi peoples shape human-jaguar coexistence in Colombia’s most endangered jaguar corridor. Combining ecological surveys, interviews and participatory mapping, the research compares jaguar presence and conflict intensity across Indigenous and non-Indigenous lands in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The findings aim to support recovery strategies for this threatened jaguar population
