Abstract:
This eight week dissertation follow-up research project will examine knowledge about Amazonian swidden-fallow agriculture and it governance in Ecuador through structured interviews with government officials and Amazonian swidden farmers. It seeks to document in precise detail how these two diverse groups of people think about each other's practices, as well as how each thinks the other thinks about them, with attention both to in-group and inter-group variation in perspectives.
