Abstract:

The project will make use of the eddy co-varience method to quantify the carbon sink capacity and methane emission capacity of tall and scrub mangrove forests in the Everglades National Park in Florida. The method will be applied to long term flux data of CO2 and CH4 obtained from flux towers located in Shark River Slough and Taylor Slough. By combining flux data with micrometerological data obtained from this site I will quantify the aforementioned parameters and compare them to marshlands of the vicinity. This will allow for visualization of the differences in carbon dynamics across local landscapes.
