Abstract:
Based on the land cover map of 2000, 2010, and 2020 offered by GlobeLand30, the research proposes to investigate the relationship between urbanization and forest transition in sub-tropical China. This research will mainly answer two questions: (1) Whether the forest cover increases at the scale of prefecture-level city? (2) What are the major socio-economic drivers of forest transition?
The aim of this research is to further our understanding of the effects of urbanization on the tropical forest and provide policy implications for policymakers to promote forest transition. This research is of referential value for developing countries to attain a “win-win” scenario between forest resources and urban development.
