Abstract:

My study will assess how a woody plant community in the Atlantic Forest biodiversity hotspot has changed over more than three decades. For the field component, I will inventory the woody plant community within a permanent 1-hectare plot of primary submontane tropical moist forest in southern Bahia, Brazil, for the fourth time since 1992. Using the four inventory datasets, I will analyze community-level changes in floristic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity to assess how this hyper-diverse primary forest has changed over time.
