Abstract:
To accurately assess the success of the recent electrification program in India, it is important to quantify the positive impacts it has had on a households’ standard of living. Specifically, increased electrification can improve the rate of adoption of Induction Cookstoves (ICs). By replacing solid cooking fuels, ICs can have significant health impacts on a household. Through an intervention that provides ICs in two villages with different levels of reliable electricity supply, this study analyzes the relationship between the reliable supply of electricity and the rate of adoption of ICs in rural India.
