Abstract:
My research is focused on investigating chronically food insecure Latina/x women’s relationship with emergency food access in Miami, specifically Hialeah. I conducted a mixed-qualitative method approach through the application of Geographic Information Systems, semi-structured interviews, and surveys. I am seeking data and anecdotal evidence to measure the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rates of food insecurity, reliance on emergency food outlets, and assessing any structural barriers when accessing emergency food.
